The world of Wuthering Waves has a unique feature: the Echo system, which assists in the growth and progression of characters. Echoes are holographic residues of defeated enemies and offer special boosts and abilities to your character. You must defeat the enemy to obtain the Echo, which can then be equipped for your character.
Every Echo has specific abilities that offer corresponding stat upgrades to your character. The addition of Echoes invites players to engage with a variety of elements and experiment with their character’s journey.
Echo Sonata Effects
Sonata Effects are the set bonuses of Echoes that activate when the same set of Echoes is obtained. Currently, there are nine sets of Sonata that you will encounter. Depending on the number of similar Echoes, the bonuses can be differentiated into the following types.
Sonata | Description |
---|---|
Celestial Light | |
Freezing Frost | |
Havoc Eclipse | |
Moonlit Clouds | |
Molten Rift | |
Rejuvenating Glow | |
Sierra Gale | |
Endless Resonance | |
Void Thunder |
Two-Piece: This bonus will provide a simple boost by equipping two same-set Echoes. It offers a slight improvement in a certain stat.
Full Set: When a complete set of the same Echoes is equipped, it activates a full set bonus that drastically changes the ability.
Acquiring Sonata effects is random, which might require you to face similar enemies to complete the full set. Normal enemies will provide different Echoes, while boss enemies offer similar-set Echoes.
Echo Classes and Rarity
Echoes have different rarities and classes that distinguish them and influence their effectiveness.
Classes: Common, Elite, Overlord, and Calamity.
Rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic.
Echo Stats
Every Echo has two primary stats and up to five sub-stats. The primary stats can be distinct, but the sub-stats remain constant. The sub-stats can mirror the primary stats and are generated randomly.
Primary Stats are HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Energy Regeneration%, Crit Rate%, Crit DMG%, Elemental Damage Boost, and Healing Bonus%.
Sub-Stats are Flat HP and ATK.

Echo Tuning
- Echo Tuning is a great approach, allowing you to get the Echoes’ sub-stats.
- It requires materials that can be collected only through the Tacet Field Cleanup
- You can use tuners to get a random sub-stat.
Data Bank
As the name suggests, the Data Bank lets you check the Echoes you have collected on your journey. It comprises three sections, including Data Dock, Sonata Gallery, and Echo Gallery.
- Data Dock– Here you will get the Echo Drop rate, COST limit, etc., details. You can upgrade the Data Dock by collecting unique Echoes.
- Echo Gallery– You will get all the Echoes and Sonata Effects information here.
- Sonata Gallery– You can check every Sonata Effect in this section.
How to Get Echoes?
Collecting Echoes requires you to defeat enemies throughout the game journey. The tougher enemies you defeat, the rarer Echo drops you will receive. However, each Echo has a cost that provides unique abilities and powers.
The map has currently only marked the location of 3-star echoes.
After the official release of the Wuthering Waves game on May 22, 2024, all echoes’ locations will be marked on the map.

Echoes Route Guide
The class of every Echoe determines the mechanism for acquiring it. The higher the class of an Echo, the more complex it is to collect. Common Class Echoes can be simply collected by defeating and absorbing monsters. However, Elite Echoes are gathered similarly, but they do not appear more frequently.
After defeating them, the chance of dropping Elite Echoes is low, and the drop rate decreases with higher ranks. The remaining two Echoes are exclusive and may become available in future game progression. During Echo farming, there are very few chances of obtaining different varieties of Echoes than usual, and these are known as Shiny Echoes.
